It was rumored that new sedan will be stretched New Maruti Swift hatchback, but the fact is that it is based on an all-new Swift platform specifically developed for New Dzire. Exteriors:

The frontage of New Dzire especially the headlamps, looks very much stolen from New Swift hatchback, but the modified bonnet grille and classy looking front bumper bestows it a distinct individuality. The new style grille seems inspired from a premium vehicle together with elegant looking alloy wheel provide it a mannish stance. The 2012 Dzire is just 165mm less against the existing Dzire. But, still has grown in other dimensions such as the width of that has increased to 5mm, the height that was earlier 1,530mm has seen an up of 25mm. Whereas, there is nearly 40mm augmentation in the wheel base part as compared to older Dzire along with ground clearance that goes untouched, which should have got a bit of elevation. At the rear the boot space is now only 316 liters, a big loss of 124 liters. The rear design is far better than earlier version, the natural cues and tail lamps fits well and provide an up-market feel. The roof panel along with rear gate remains same as New Swift hatch along with new ORVMs that are now integrated with turn indicators.

Interiors:

The interior were expected to be drawn out of New Swift hatchback and same reflects in reality with 2012 New Dzire sedan.  But when the comparison comes to older version, all can be tagged ‘New’ from its up-to-date steering wheel design, center console with waterfall outline and climate control feature together with newly incorporated audio/stereo system that comes with 6-speakers.

The new lighter beige and black dual-tone shade theme combined with wood finish inserts on the instrument panel and door panels separates this New Dzire from New Swift hatchback as well as first generation Dzire. The features like chrome insert and silver accents along with leather trim and spontaneous storage provide the compact sedan its unique identity. At the rear compartment the legroom gets increased by 20mm for comfortable seating of rear passengers.  All the seats are truly comfy with their revolutionary upright stance. Engine:

The sedan has lost around 70 kilograms of kerb weight with its lighter engine, in order to fit well in the power to weight ratio. The New Maruti Swift Dzire CS will be offered in both the variants of petrol as well as diesel. And this time, the two power-trains will perform better in terms of performance and fuel efficiency as the engines are now light in weight against the older version.

The 1248cc, DDiS intercooled, turbocharged multi-jet diesel engine generates maximum power of 75 PS at 4,000 rpm together with peak torque of 190 Nm at 2,000 rpm.

On the other hand, the 1197cc, K-12M VVT petrol engine churns out maximum power of 87 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 114Nm at 4,000 rpm. Both the engines are mated to the usual 5-speed manual gearbox. The new entrant is the four-speed Automatic Transmission (AT) in the petrol engine of New DZire.

Mileage:

With the 1.3L diesel Multi-jet motor it delivers an amazing high mileage of 23.4 km per litre, whilst the K series petrol engine of New Maruti Swift Dzire provides an exceptional fuel efficiency of 19.1 km per litre.
